Elders in the valley tell the story of a prince by the name of Saiful Malook who fell in love with a fairy. The prince was a fond lover and explorer. He would usually come to the lake in wilderness, which was surrounded by tall snow clad peaks. One day the young prince saw a fascinating spectacle. A beautiful fairy was dancing on the surface of the lake. Curiosity brought him close to her and he stole her clothes. The modest fairy agreed to marry him in return for her clothes, an incident which turned into intense love. The couple started meeting but the union enraged the fairy’s demon lover, who was so angry that out of anger flooded the entire Kaghan valley. When the floods subsided, Saiful Malook went up the lake only to find that nobody was there.
Saiful Malook is one of the most beautiful lakes one can imagine to exist on the surface of this earth. When I talk about the lake, words fail to describe its beauty. Anyone who has been there once can never forget the time that was spent in the company of this enchanting lake. Once I am there I never feel like leaving it; quite opposite to the Trevy Fountain in Rome, the eternal city where the visitors throw coins to wish they would come back soon. Here in the fairyland you don’t need to throw any coin.
The lake itself is so charming, so luring and so tempting that I fall in love with it. But as the fairy tales are. There are demons too. The landslides, the thunderstorms and heavy rains though have a romance of their own, yet in the hilly areas they do often reverse their roles with demons of the fairy tales. So even if I don’t want to leave, these villains of the mountains force me to. It’s a pity there is no proper rest area, no hotel or a guesthouse so I must come back even though I don’t want to (neither the federally owned PTDC nor any private organization has ventured to put up a facility here where you can find a shelter from the heavy rain). There is no hotel either where you can have a rest or can enjoy the serene, cool and magical evening in the company of this most enchanting lake. So visitors beware! Take meals with you, there is no restaurant. No place to refresh and no building except the loony hut maintained by the forest department, which most of the times remains closed. So before you plan to see the fairyland, be prepared to travel like Ibn-e-Batuta.
Once you have your food with you and have complete gear to travel, you will enjoy your stay, as you never did before. It’s here at my lovely Saiful that I met the queen of the mountains, the “Malka Parbat” peak which reigns over its kingdom at a majestic height of 17360 ft. Standing in the east and looking in the transparent waters of Saiful Malook I can view the majestic Malka in blue waters of the lake for the lake itself is like a mirror. It has the shape of a bowl where water from surrounding glaciers and peaks falls to form one of the loveliest wetlands in Pakistan.
Boating facility at the lake is available to but can’t recommend because the lake is so deep, its depth has not been measured yet. And there is no emergency equipment or help. So dudes don’t take risk! There are a few camping sites available though which I would strongly recommend because its here that beautiful lake meets with all its charm, grandeur and its magnificence. There are small huts and shops near lake selling items you may need.

Over 1000 ships and planes have disappeared in the Bermuda triangle over past 5 centuries Books, articles, and television broadcasts investigating the Bermuda Triangle emphasize that, in the case of most of the disappearances, the weather was favorable, the disappearances occurred in daylight after a sudden break in radio contact, there were no human errors , equipment failures or even natural disasters. Strangely, the ships and aircrafts just vanished without trace when everything seemed to be okay

There are many theories about why so many airplanes and ships have disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. Some suggest that there are special magnetic fields that causeunknown physical forces. Others say that the lost continent of Atlantis sank in the region causing mysterious events. There is even a theory about unknown chemicals in the waters of the Atlantic.

Some experts, however, point out that the region north of the Caribbean is not as safe as it may seem. It is one of two places on Earth where the compass points to the geographic North Pole. It is also a region in which the weather is unpredictable and where storms can emerge quickly. There are strong currents because of shallow places and deep trenches in the ocean. These factors can confuse even experienced sailors.

Many believe that Devil is at play here and therefore the area is called  Devil’s Triangle .The facts ,however, are quite far from what is generally known or believed to be true .Scientific evaluations of the Bermuda Triangle have concluded that the number of disappearances in the region is not abnormal and that most of the disappearances have logical explanations.

So what caused the ships and aircrafts to disappear mysteriously?? There is no any single theory giving logical explanations and uncovering the mystery.Many theories have come out ,there are few that are close to solving the Bermuda Triangle Mystery.

·         Methane Gas: This theory suggests that methane gas under the sea floor can lower the water density and cause ships to sink. Even planes flying over it can catch fire and get completely destroyed during such gas blowout.

·         Sargasso Sea: This theory suggest that there is sea known as Sargasso sea where such incidents took place , it is a strange area that has no shores and bounded only by water currents on all sides . So many ships passing through it have been stranded and motionless

·         Electronic Fog : this particular theory talks about a strange thick cloud that appears from nowhere and engulfs a ship or a plane .Instruments begin to malfunction and finally the ship or aircraft vanishes without a trace

·         Gulf stream: It is an ocean current that originates in the Gulf of Mexico , and then moves through the Straits of Florida , into the North of Atlantic .It is a like a river within an ocean and can carry floating objects.A small plane making water landing or a boat having engine problem could be carried away easily.

New theories keep evolving , but none so far have been able to prove the phenomena of  such incidents or disappearances with facts and evidences.

Bermuda Triangle, also known as Devil’s triangle, is an undefined region  located in western Atlantic Ocean has become associated in the popular imagination with mysterious maritime disasters. It has been named as Bermuda triangle because of it the triangle-shaped area, that covers about 1,140,000 sq km between the island of Bermuda, the coast of southern Florida , and Puerto Rico.. 

It has become famous myth that here at the place of Bermuda triangle a numberof aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances.More than 1000 ships and planes have disappeared in the triangle area over the past five centuries and continue to do so.

The earliest disappearances in the Bermuda area appeared in a September 17, 1950.In this regard an article published  was in  The Miami Herald (Associated Press)  by Edward Van Winkle Jones. Two years later, another article was published in  Fate magazine named as  "Sea Mystery at Our Back Door",by George X. However, Sand's article was the first to lay out the now-familiar triangular area where the losses took place,and where the loss of several planes and ships, including the loss ofFlight 19 and suggested the incident as supernatural cause. Flight 19 was a a group of five U.S. Navy TBM Avenger bombers  goingon a training mission. Allan W. Eckertalso  wrote about Flight 19 in April 1962 that the flight leader had been heard saying, "We are entering white water, nothing seems right. We don't know where we are, the water is green, no white." He also wrote that officials at the Navy board of inquiry stated that the planes "flew off to Mars."  .the flight was carrying 14 crewmen and disappeared after radioing a series of distress messages; an aircraft sent in search of the squadron also disappeared. Aircraft that have disappeared in the area since this incident include a DC-3 carrying 27 passengers in 1948 and a C-124 Globemaster with 53 passengers in 1951. Among the ships that have disappeared was the tankership Marine Sculpture Queen, which vanished with 39 men aboard in 1963. Disappearance of Flight 19 was one of the best-known incident  . Apart from it number of ships have disappeared in Bermuda triangle.Among them is the Mary Celeste, an American merchant ship, in 1872. The ship was sailing from New Yorkto Genoa, but was later found off thecoast of Africa without any crew members on board. Although there is no evidence that the Mary Celeste even entered the Bermuda Triangle or not , however, most of people connect its mysterious disappearance with the area.

                                                                                          

In short  a number of articles were published , many stories and myths created through sheer imagination of writers that supernatural elements or Devil exist there in Bermuda that’s why it is called as Devil’s triangle .

A mermaid is a mythical creature that is half woman and half fish. The name comes from 'mer' meaning sea. The male version is called a merman.

Although some mermaids are described as monstrous and ugly, they are more usually very beautiful. Above the waist they appear as a lovely young woman, whilst from the waist down, they are like a fish with fins and a spreading tail. 

Mermaids like to comb their long hair. In art, they are often shown with a mirror and a comb. Sometimes they sit on a rock and sing, luring sailors to their destruction. This is why they are often confused with sirens (who also inhabit the sea). Mermaids lure handsome young men to their homes in the deep seas. Mermen, however, are usually wilder and uglier than mermaids and have little interest in humans.

Similar creatures live in lakes and rivers. In Slavic mythology there are the Rusalki, the spirits of young women who have met their fate through drowning. They appear in the form of beautiful fish-women or mermaids. They have lovely hair, fine features but sad fathomless eyes which tell their tragic tale. They entrance young men, taking them to the river floor to live with them.

It was always considered most unlucky to do anything unkind to Mermaids. Often in stories, they fail to thrive if brought onto land. The exception to this is the Merrow who sometimes marry humans. Mermaids live for a very long time but, according to some legends, do not have a soul.

How did the myths arise?

Legends of half-human, half-fish creatures go back thousands of years. Everyone has seen pictures of mermaids. Sightings were made by the early Arabs and the Greek Pliny in 586 A.D. Many medieval sailors claimed to have seen them and such reports continued right into the 1900's.

Most sightings by sailors were probably normal marine creatures, such as manatees, dugongs, or sea-cows (now extinct). These appear to cradle their young much as a human would carry a baby. It is possible that sailors, seeing these unfamiliar beasts, would assume that they had stumbled across some sort of humanoid species. Mermaids described by the famous explorer, Christopher Columbus, were almost certainly manatees. He reported seeing three mermaids in the ocean off Haiti, in January of 1493. He said they "came quite high out of the water", but were "not as pretty as they are depicted, for somehow in the face they look like men."

However such descriptions are very different from the usual portrayal of a mermaid and the idea, of a beautiful but dangerous creature, probably arose from the earlier stories of the Sirens of the Aegean Sea. The Sirens were sea-nymphs who had the power to charm by their song all who heard them, so that the unhappy mariners were irresistibly impelled to cast themselves into the sea to their destruction. The Sirens were first mentioned in Homer's Odyssey. This may have shaped the portrayal of mermaids from medieval times onwards.

Some of the bad things that mermaids are accused of include telling sailors their ship is doomed and enchanting sailors and causing shipwrecks. Seeing a mermaid is a sure sign of a violent storm to come. In other stories, they deliberately drag people down in the water and squeeze the life out of drowning men. They also take men down to their underwater kingdoms.

However, on occasions, mermaids can also bring good fortune by giving humans cures or granting them wishes. In some tales, they even marry and live with humans. For example, the Merrow of Ireland and Scotland.

These mermaids are beautiful, gentle, modest and kind. They wear a red cap and, if this is captured and hidden from them, they will shed their skins and stay on land. However, most times they eventually retrieve the cap and return to the sea. They also lure young men to follow them beneath the waves. Here they live in an enchanted state. Merrow music is often heard coming from beneath the waves.

Reality:

Mermaids are associated with the mythological Greek sirens as well as with sirenia, a biological order comprising dugongs and manatees. Some of the historical sightings by sailors may have been misunderstood encounters with these aquatic mammals. Christopher Columbus reported seeing mermaids while exploring the Caribbean, and sightings have been reported in the 20th and 21st centuries in Canada, Israel and Zimbabwe. The U.S. National Ocean Service stated in 2012 that no evidence of mermaids has ever been found.

Mermaids are one of the most famous mythical creatures, depicted regularly in literature and film. The "Mermaid's Rock" can still be seen off the coast and you can visit Kynance cove and the beaches by the Lizard.e National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration published a curious addition to its Ocean Facts section: "Are Mermaids Real?" Describing them as "half-human, half-fish sirens of the sea," the post goes on to describe the various appearances of mermaids in folklore, from cave paintings to The Odyssey. However, NOAA comes to the final conclusion that "no evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found."
